I have always loved Spanish music and the Spanish language, so when I was younger, it was a big dream of mine to visit the country. I used to call it my favourite country before I even visited! In the autumn of 2014, my dream finally came true, when I travelled with a friend to Mallorca to attend Sharkiecon, an event for fans of Black Milk Clothing! It was an incredible time, where we also explored the party scene of Magaluf and went on a day trip to the beautiful village of Pollença.
The year after, I returned to Spain, this time to the tourist city of Malgrat del Mar with my family for our summer holiday. We spent two weeks mainly relaxing in the sun. I’m not a big fan of holidays like that, but I did love the days where we went out to explore. We went on day trips to Barcelona and Girona, the latter of which I absolutely loved, and we also spent a day roadtripping in the tiny country of Andorra.
Years went by and I dreamt of returning to Spain to explore the country further. It’s so incredibly diverse and I felt like I’d only scratched the surface. Finally, in the summer of 2019, it was time for my return. I spent two weeks touring Andalusia, the most vibrant region of Spain, plus a few days in Madrid and Bilbao too. My favourite day was in Ayamonte near the Portuguese border where I went solely to see a statue of my childhood hero, María Isabel! I also really loved Bilbao, which offered a taste of the gorgeous Basque Country.
