I had travelled to Ireland to spend New Years 2015/16 in Dublin with my buddy Bethann when we decided to take a spontaneous trip to Northern Ireland, a country neither of us had been to before. It was the first day of the new year and we were exhausted from the night before, but excited to explore Belfast, the nation’s capital, for a few hours.
I can’t remember if we did any research before going, but the rain didn’t allow for much sightseeing anyway. We just wandered through the streets, looked at the city and all the Christmas decorations that hadn’t yet been taken down, and agreed that even in the rain, we liked Belfast better than Dublin.
