Liechtenstein is a tiny nation, nestled between Austria and Switzerland in the mighty Alps. Despite its gorgeous nature and rich cultural heritage, Liechtenstein is often overlooked by many, myself included.
But that was until I travelled to Austria with my family for our summer holiday in 2021. I suggested we spend a day roadtripping through Liechtenstein with a mission to see the entire country in just one day. We managed. After all, Liechtenstein is the 6th smallest country in the world.
We started in the south and worked our way north. We visited the only two intact Medieval castles in the country, explored the picturesque village of Triesenberg, were engulfed in fog atop a viewing tower, shopped and did some sightseeing in the capital city of Vaduz, crossed an old footbridge into Switzerland, visited a vintage store in Schaan and explored two castle ruins in Schellenberg.
Of course, one day is only enough to see the highlights, to merely scratch the surface. I’m dreaming of a return to go hiking in the mountains!
