I have been to Croatia twice, first on a summer vacation with my family and then for a day en route to Slovenia with my mum. The family vacation brought us to the Istria peninsula, where we spent a week in a small village near Pula. When we weren’t sunbathing (= being bored), we spent time exploring Pula and its impressive amphitheater, chasing dinosaur footprints, exploring small villages, and we even went on a day trip to Venice by boat!
Five years later, my mum and I were researching the best way to get to Slovenia, and stumbled upon cheap flights to Zagreb, Croatia’s capital. With only a 2,5-hour bus ride between Zagreb and Slovenia’s capital of Ljubljana, it was the perfect deal. We’d get to Slovenia for less money and also get the opportunity to explore Zagreb!
Well, that decision was something we did not regret one bit. We only spent an afternoon and a night in Zagreb, but we loved it. We were there on the coldest day that year, which meant that the city was covered in a blanket of snow. It was magical!
