An archaeological conference in Cardiff in December 2017 brought me to Wales for the very first time! I’m not sure why it took me so long to finally visit, especially since Wales had always been high on my list of dream destinations.

While I found Cardiff to be a nice and lively city, it was our one day in Brecon Beacons National Park that truly stole my heart. Despite the relentless rain, the natural beauty was absolutely breathtaking. We made the somewhat questionable decision to climb the park’s highest mountain wearing thin sneakers – not exactly ideal for slippery trails, but what’s an adventure without a little struggle?

That day, soaked to the bone and grinning ear to ear, I knew I wanted to return to Wales. I still dream of exploring more of this rugged, underrated country – especially Snowdonia National Park!

I'm a Danish/English archaeologist with an ardent passion for exploring the north. Whether it’s the windswept cliffs of the Faroe Islands, the icy fjords of Greenland, the misty moors of Scotland, or the deep forests of Scandinavia - the north is where my heart feels most at home. I may sometimes go astray and travel south, east or west, but I always find my way back north. In September 2023, a scruffy little pup from Romania named Minnie trotted into my life - and onto the road with me. She’s now my loyal sidekick, and the best adventure buddy I could ask for 💙 If you're into unusual destinations, wild northern landscapes, and forgotten places, you’ve come to the right corner of the internet. So go ahead - pack your virtual backpack and come explore the north with us!
