Ukraine is one of those countries that I held off on visiting, because I never found enough time. I didn’t want to just go for a few days, as Ukraine is huge and has so much to offer. But when my mum suggested that we go to Kyiv for our fifth annual mother/daughter trip, I couldn’t say no! Luckily, we decided to go for a week, so we did have time to thoroughly explore Kyiv and go on a day trip to Chernobyl.

Kyiv, despite being a very big and busy city, was beautiful and I especially loved exploring all the colourful churches and the Pirogovo Open-Air Museum. But the highlight of the trip was definitely to visit the Chernobyl power plant and its ghost towns, which has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.
