Åland, the forgotten nation of 6700 islands. Nestled in between Finland and Sweden this autonomous region is officially part of Finland, but culturally closer to Sweden, making Åland an interesting place to visit. But not only is the history of the place intriguing, the country also offers immense natural beauty.

Back in July 2016, I spent five days biking and camping around nine islands in Åland with a friend, and I absolutely loved it there. It was so idyllic and so Swedish! I’ve been dreaming about going back ever since to explore more of the smaller islands and get out to the remote corners of the country.
