In under 24 hours, I will be on Greenlandic soil. After months and months of planning, the move is finally happening. I’m moving up north, far up north to the cold and dark, to new adventures and to nature in my backyard.
For five months, I’ll be living in Nuuk, in a small apartment shared with four other guest students. I will be studying three courses on anthropology and the history of Greenland at the University of Greenland and also attend Greenlandic language classes on Thursdays. I will explore Nuuk and the mountains surrounding it thoroughly. On weekends and holidays, I’ll take off to distant corners of the country to explore some of the smaller villages. And for Christmas and New Years, I’ll have my parents, grandmother and younger brother there to show around my new temporary hometown.
I’m excited to live a slower lifestyle for a few months where the only travel I’ll be doing is within the same country. It will be a totally new lifestyle for me, but something I’m sure I will enjoy since it’s in such a beautiful country.
And another thing; I’m starting my vegan lifestyle on the same day that I move to Greenland, but more about that decision later!
I’m leaving at 11 AM tomorrow morning and will touch down in Kangerlussuaq, where the biggest airport in Greenland is located. Because of the time difference, I’ll be there at 11.40 AM. I will then have five hours to explore the tiny village before heading onto Nuuk, where I’ll arrive at 5.30 PM. I will be picked up in the airport and taken to the apartment and then the Greenlandic life begins!
I’ve always wondered what it would be like to live anywhere else in the world than Denmark where I grew up, and now seems like the perfect time for me to try just that. I hope I will fall in love with Greenland.
I’m very excited for this new adventure and I hope you will come along on the journey with me. I’ll be sharing all of my experiences and adventures here as well as my new vegan lifestyle! See you in Nuuk!

6 years agoI can’t wait to follow your adventures on Greenland. I’m so excited to see all the pictures, and hear about your life there. Can I ask, how expensive are the flight tickets there? 🙂 Best of luck on your next adventurous chapter in life! <3

The flight tickets are quite expensive, I paid 3300 DKK for a one-way ticket from Copenhagen D:

6 years agoThank you dear Ann!! I hope I will fall in love – but then again, I can’t afford to be as in love with Greenland as I am with the Faroe Islands as the flight tickets are so expensive 😛 When I get back from Greenland, it’s time for Ukraine and then I finally get to meet you!!! So exciting! 😀 <3
