My first visit to the Czech Republic was as a six-year-old with my family. I don’t remember much from that trip – just that we stayed somewhere outside Prague and spent a day in the city, where I vividly recall meeting a man with an eagle. After that, it took me 20 years to return – not for lack of interest, but simply because it never quite fit into my plans.
When I finally did go back in October 2021, it was a short and sweet visit: just one night in Brno en route to Serbia. But 2022 was the year I really started getting to know the country. In May, I spent four days in the stunning city of Děčín, nestled in Bohemian Switzerland, and instantly fell in love with its charm and natural beauty. A few months later, I returned with a friend for a week-long summer trip. We stayed with his friends in Prague, wandered through the rich cultural heritage of Kutná Hora, and took more time to explore Brno.
In August 2024, I found myself back in Bohemian Switzerland, this time with family. We based ourselves in Děčín again and spent two unforgettable days discovering the region by car and on foot. It was the perfect mix of nature, history, and nostalgia.
