I’m a little sad to admit that I’ve only spent one day in Armenia – but what a day it was!

Back in October 2021, I planned a two-week trip to explore both Georgia and Armenia, flying into Tbilisi and out of Yerevan, with a flexible itinerary in between. But I ended up falling so in love with Georgia that I stayed right up until the very last moment. That left me with just four daylight hours in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan – but I made the most of every minute.

Even with all my luggage in tow, I managed to see a surprising amount of the city, ending the day with a beautiful sunset from the top of The Cascade. It was a brief but memorable glimpse into a country that instantly captured my curiosity.

Armenia is absolutely a place I need to return to – especially to explore its stunning historic monasteries and dive deeper into its rich cultural heritage.

I'm a Danish/English archaeologist with an ardent passion for exploring the north. Whether it’s the windswept cliffs of the Faroe Islands, the icy fjords of Greenland, the misty moors of Scotland, or the deep forests of Scandinavia - the north is where my heart feels most at home. I may sometimes go astray and travel south, east or west, but I always find my way back north. In September 2023, a scruffy little pup from Romania named Minnie trotted into my life - and onto the road with me. She’s now my loyal sidekick, and the best adventure buddy I could ask for 💙 If you're into unusual destinations, wild northern landscapes, and forgotten places, you’ve come to the right corner of the internet. So go ahead - pack your virtual backpack and come explore the north with us!
