20 years, 3 months and 24 days. That’s how long it took me to visit London, and THAT is a disaster!
London is not only the capital of United Kingdom, it’s also my capital – and so is Copenhagen. My mother is English and my father is Danish and I’ve always felt an equal amount of patriotism towards both countries. I’ve spent a lot of time in Copenhagen and love the city to bits, but before this summer, I had never set foot in London. And now I can’t believe how that’s even possible!
Because London is beautiful. So much more beautiful than I ever thought a city could be. From the charming old churches and cathedrals to the hip and modern Picadilly Circus and from the lively green parks to the calm River Thames – what’s not to love? London has everything and everything is never far away. I never thought that I could love such a big city and I always believed that London was overrated, but boy was I wrong! London IS a fabulous city and it deserves every bit of praise it gets.
When I was on holiday in England in July, I spent two days in London with my little brother, my friend Steve and my friend Emilie. We wanted to see EVERYTHING – and we did. No words can describe how blown away I was by London, so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves!
Big Ben & House of Parliament
Marble Arch
Buckingham Palace
Changing of the Guards
Westminster Cathedral
Westminster Abbey
Saint Margaret’s Church
Hyde Park
London Eye
River Thames
Trafalgar Square
Admiralty Arch
Kensington Palace & Gardens
St Paul’s Cathedral
The Shard
Tower of London
Tower Bridge
Picadilly Circus
As you can see above, we really saw a lot in two days. I loved everything I saw, but one place stole my heart – Kensington Gardens. It’s not one of the most famous places in London, but it is beautiful nonetheless and definitely worth a visit despite being quite far away from everything else. Our feet were killing us by the end of the trip, but we had an amazing experience and I’m already excited to go back to London!
